Today is the last day for my dad's conference, and we leave at 4PM, and we will be evacuated from the hotel at 11AM because some people just has to have clean rooms, so we left to go to LEGO Discovery Center!
It was located in a mall, on the third floor. There was a Moe's Southwest Grill, so we decided to eat there. I got a Fat Sam (hehehe :P), which is a fajita. A fajita is when you get FOOD and you stuff it in this wheat and flour thing, and then you roll it.
| YOU GET THE THINGS |
| And then YOU ROLL THE THINGS |
You eat it at the ends where the food fall out, and then you digest the food. While you are digesting the food, you can entertain you mouth with some chips. Chips is this hard, crunchy thing that you can put SALSA OR SOMETHING SPICY ON IT!! WHILE ON THE TOPIC, YOU CAN HYDRATE YOURSELF WITH A DRINK!!! >>:)
We went to the LEGO Discovery Center (yes, it was inside), but they said they were sold out until 3PM admission, but we had to pick up our dad and leave for home at 4PM. We said we were from Alabama just to visit this place, and the cashier asked the manager, and they said YES! So we paid and went into this building, and had to wait a while for all the people to come, because some people made reservations.
| While waiting, took pictures! |
You were also entertained by a TV, and it was about a minifigure stuck in a LEGO making factory, and he has to escape and stuff. Soon the door opened, and it was all the steps of making the LEGO pieces!
Basically, first you melt the ABS material (that's what LEGO is made of), and then you use this presser to shape the LEGO. You cool it after that, and then when it's hard, you're ready to go build some things that you want credit for!
There was also a weight counter in LEGO bricks, like how much you weigh in bricks.
| It was still calculating, so the blue bar wasn't there yet. |
It seems like everyone is at 24,000 bricks, but if you put one foot on it and adjust the weight, it does vary below 24,000.
When everyone was finished, we were led into a ride called "Kingdom Quest". The point is to shoot at targets and compete with you friends. If you win, you can buy a picture of you're score with your friend's score for $20 and post it on their Facebook, Twitter, and other social network things that people want to use.
| Kind of blurry because no flash photography. |
| There's a gun, and you use it to shoot things... |
When you get out, you can see your photos (like I mentioned above), and then you get into Miniland. It's when you can just watch LEGO buildings and Minifigures! The pictures are going to clutter this post.
| A monorail, and a water spraying place for kids. |
| Football! There are actually buttons at the bottom that you can press to play with these people! Unfortunately, the player has really horrible coordination, and the other players don't move. If you touch the minifigures, you get a down! |
| Seems like LEGO was trying to trick us with the floor, because they put this picture on the floor! I saw a lot of people (including me) trying to grab it. |
| Also baseball! You pull this lever and then it pushes this marble ball into the arena, and it moves around the sticks on the picture, and you have to get it in certain areas for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and home. If you miss all of those, you got strike! Now lets go march outside the place and hold picket signs demanding stuff! |
| Washington Monument!! I also forgot, a cool thing is that around 5 minutes, it will either turn into daylight or night. All of these are taken at night. |
We left Miniland, and headed for the Master Builder Academy!
At first I thought we were going to learn something, but we actually had to build something. I thought we were going to be taught tricks and techniques.
This was the guy in there... Lucky him, he builds LEGO for a living and gets paid! He also made the buildings in Miniland. |
We had an assignment to do a scene in a TV/movie show or something, with the LEGO bricks in a box.
| This is an example of a Star Wars scene. |
| I came up with Spongebob's pineapple and Patrick's rock. I would of have done better if I had more pieces :P |
Then we walked around, and we did stuff. We left later into the LEGO shop (with no reentry to the Discovery Center) and I just bought a LEGO Minifigure Series 7 pack. I got another (so now I have 2) Tarzan dude with the monkey and knives! Then we headed home to my childhood memories place.
